Quick Overview:

Barbara Dobbins is a hardy waterlily with 4 to 6 inch soft yellow petals that are blushed with soft pink. It has a pleasant fragrance and exhibits 30 to 32 petals. It has a faint mottling on green emergent leaves that fades with time to plain green. It has 8 to 10 inch leaves on a plant that reaches 5 to 7 feet so it needs a large water garden. It is a good blooming plant that raises the blooms 4 to 6 inches above the water surface.

Description

Easily grown in wet soil in still water in full sun to part shade. Full sun may be best, but plants will usually flower with as little as three hours of sun per day. Plant rhizomes horizontally in spring with bud end up in containers submerged in ponds or water gardens where the water is 12-48″ deep. When planted in containers, plants can be more easily moved later on if desired. Rhizomes may be planted directly in the muddy bottom of a pond.  (Courtesy of Missouri Botanical Gardens Plant Finder)
