Wax myrtle is a large multi-stemmed shrub that can be pruned into a small evergreen tree-form. It is evergreen and has fragrant foliage. It is not particular where it grows but will perform better in sandier, well-drained soils. Wax myrtles will not stay full to the ground as they self thin with age. Winter damage below 10 degrees.

Description

Myrica cerifera is found along the eastern coast of the United States from New Jersey to southern Florida and through the Gulf states to Texas. Often found on sandy sites along the coast, it also inhabits a wide variety of sites from swamps to upland woods.
