Quick Overview:

Illicium ‘Woodland Ruby’ is an interspecific hybrid between I. floridanum ‘Alba’ and I. mexicanum, and produces showy blooms in spring and fall.  Illicium grows in partial shade to full shade, but reportedly can be acclimated to full sun if well watered. It prefers moist soil and definitely should be mulched and watered during prolonged dry spells, as it has a tendency to wilt.

Description

Grow Woodland Ruby anisetree in acidy, organic-rich soils that are moist. This selection is best located in partial sun to shade although more sun is best tolerated in cool summer locales. Use it as an accent in a mixed woodland border where the larger flowers can be appreciated easily. It is also good for a moist, shady spot in a foundation bed.
