Quick Overview:

This selection is considered a big improvement on native Gaura. It is an ideal size for containers, edging or in the rock garden. It forms a mound of narrow, green leaves with airy arching stems of dainty white flowers tinged pink from late spring through late summer. In the breeze these move constantly, looking like a cloud of small butterflies.

Description

Best grown in sandy, loamy, well-drained soil in full sun. Good drainage is essential. A tap-rooted plant which tolerates heat, humidity, some drought and poor soils. Remove spent flower spikes to prolong bloom. Thin flower stems tend to become leggy and flop, particularly when grown in rich soils. Plants often benefit from close planting or support from adjacent perennials. Plants may be cut back in late spring by 1/2 to control size. Although the species will self-seed, this cultivar is sterile. Root rot may occur in heavy, poorly drained soils. Taller plants may need support.  (Courtesy of Missouri Botanical Gardens Plant Finder)
