Quick Overview:

This pineapple lily cultivar features a basal rosette of strap-shaped, linear, dark burgundy leaves which spread to 24" wide. From each rosette, a thick flower stalk rises to 20" tall in mid to late summer bearing masses of tiny, starry, purplish flowers in a dense raceme topped by a tuft of greenish bracts blushed with burgundy. Raceme flowers bloom bottom to top over a long 6-8 week bloom period. Overall flower effect is reminiscent of pineapple, hence the common name.

Description

Best grown in moist, well-drained soils in full sun. Tolerates some shade, but best flowering and foliage color occur in full sun. Plant bulbs in spring.
