An upright-growing cedar that has a fairly slender habit and blue-green foliage. Found as a seedling selection from a tree in Afghanistan and introduced in Germany. This variety is well-known for its exceptional hardiness, possibly able to withstand Zone 4 temps.
Best used in the Upper South where conditions are not so hot and humid. Must have a well drained soil and full sunlight for best performance. It is not particular as to soil type or pH. It is somewhat tolerant of urban pollution, and will benefit from being planted in a relatively sheltered location.It grows at a medium rate, and under ideal conditions can be expected to live for 80 years or more.
