Quick Overview:

This unusual camellia delivers blooms in incredible abundance—one single branch can produce 12 flower buds. It also blooms earlier than most, starting in fall and sometimes lasting through nearly to spring. So, when most flowering plants are finished for the year, these vibrant blooms will provide an explosion of color that keeps your landscape lively. While this species generally only grows well in the south, Fall Fantasy is cold hardy all the way to zone 6. The dense, evergreen foliage will remain an attractive specimen or foundation planting, all year long.

Description

This evergreen shrub is typically grown in moist, acidic, organically rich, well-drained soils with consistent moisture in part shade locations. Established plants do well with moderate but even moisture. Plants appreciate protection from direct hot summer afternoon sun. They thrive in sun-dappled part shade conditions under the protection of tree canopies. Protect from strong winds. Apply a root mulch (leaves or shredded bark). Prune after flowering. Prune to thin branching and to control size and shape. Plants may be effectively grown in tubs or other large containers.
