Arachniodes standishii, the upside down fern, is a distinguished import from the mountains of Korea, Japan and possibly China. Credit should be given to Dr. Dick Lighty, retired Director of the Mt. Cuba Center in Delaware, for introducing this to US cultivation. Like many of our ferns from those areas it is a highly ornamental evergreen. Broadly ovate rather finely cut fronds reach outward forming a 2 foot vase of semi-glossy bright green foliage. Choose it for a graceful under planting in the moist woodlands with taller shade loving shrubs.
