Arachniodes davalliaeformis, the aptly named shiny bristle fern, is relatively new on the market and widely admired. The dark forest green fronds have such a brilliant sheen that growers sometimes smile and refer to them as plastic. Although deciduous the cheerful triangular 12 to 18 inch fronds brighten the shady landscape where clumps will slowly spread in medium light. Like most Arachniodes the new growth is frequently late, but the plants apologize by holding foliage well into autumn. Decorate your Zone 7 to 10 gardens or in warmer areas use it as a basket feature.
