Quick Overview:

‘Commemoration’ sugar maple is a fast growing, grand shade tree, with thick, glossy, leathery dark-green leaves. The thick leaves are resistant to tattering in our frequent wind storms which keeps the tree looking its best through the summer. In the fall, the entire tree transforms to pumpkin-orange with blushes of red almost two weeks before other sugar maples and the color holds well into the autumn even after a hard killing frost.

Description

Easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. Best in fertile, slightly acidic, moist soils in full sun. Grows poorly in compacted, poorly drained soils. Intolerant of road salt. Generally intolerant of urban pollution.  (Courtesy of Missouri Botanical Gardens Plant Finder)
