Quick Overview:

Acer palmatum ‘Twombly’s Red Sentinel’ is a vigorous, upright, red tree that develops an unusually columnar habit allowing it to fit into a smaller space than forms with broad canopies. Leaves maintain their dramatic red color all season long, and after they drop, the branches continue the colorful display. They darken to a deep, warm red that stands out against the grays and whites of winter. Found by Ken Twombly, Twombly Nursery, Monroe, Connecticut.

Description

Easily grown in average, medium moisture soil in full sun to part shade. Prefers lightly dappled shade. Plant in a location protected from strong winds.  (Courtesy of the Missouri Botanical Garden Plant Finder)
