Quick Overview:

‘Appalachian Spring’ was found growing wild at the Camp David Presidential Retreat on Catoctin Mountain in Maryland where it exhibited strong resistance to anthracnose, a disease that has devastated the dogwood population. Developed by the University of Tennessee’s Dogwood Breeding program, ‘Appalachian Spring’ is fast growing with apple green foliage and bright red fruits that are larger than those of the species. Its foliage turns red to purple in fall.  (Courtesy of Missouri Botanical Garden Plant Finder)
